Torture, Truth and Survival

This interdisciplinary panel explores the trauma of torture. How does one survive torture? How does torture assault not only the body and mind, but also the law, the body politic, representation, and the possibility of justice?

Trauma and Narrative

How does trauma impact the possibility of narrative? Is narration essential for recovery? Does trauma reconfigure the governing narratives of law, treatment, policy, and critical analysis? Bringing together clinical, legal, and theoretical perspectives, this panel explores the ways traumatic violence both ruptures narration and provokes it.
